No Discovery.

Lots of shakeup at the bottom of the survey (eleven debuts) but very little at the top (every song that was in the top ten last week is in the top eleven this week).

We last saw the Fantastic Baggys last summer doing “Tell ‘Em I’m Surfin’”—now they’re back with a remake of a 1959 hit by Skip & Flip, “It Was I.”  It didn’t make Billboard, but will peak here next week at number 30.  The other ten debuts all made the Hot 100.  Wayne Newton’s “Red Roses For a Blue Lady” was a number 23 BB hit that will get to number 8 here; nationally Vic Dana’s version did better but Seattle preferred Wayne.  Ronnie Dove’s “One Kiss For Old Times’ Sake” (14BB/32KJR) and Shirley Ellis’ “The Clapping Song” (8/49) will fail to approximate their national popularity, while the other seven will do about as well here as elsewhere.
