Everly Brothers--Don’t Let the Whole World Know

Discovery: Searchers—Bumble Bee

The Sonics, as mentioned last time, and the Supremes make big jumps, and the Beach Boys make a high debut.

“Lemon Tree” is dropped from the Trini Lopez listing, and “Pretty Eyes” continues alone for three more weeks.  Same for Johnny Rivers’ “Cupid” and “Midnight Special.”  And the Lancers’ “The Warmth of the Sun” rejoins “Hushabye” for that record’s final two weeks.

The one non-BB debut this week is the Everly Brothers’ “Don’t Let the Whole World Know,” which KJR opts to play over its a-side “You’re My Girl,” a number 110 BB “hit.”  “Don’t Let the Whole World Know” will get to number 44 next week and then drop off.  The other four debuts were all Billboard Top 40 hits—Beach Boys (12 BB/3 KJR), Ad Libs (8/14), Georgie Fame (21/10) and Searchers (21/4).
