Discovery: Dusty Springfield—Losing You

After three Beatle-less weeks on the survey, they come back strong and debut at number 12 with their new single.

Just as “The Witch” starts to drop, the Sonics debut with their second hit.  “Psycho” will peak at number 4 in three weeks.  Right behind them are the Viceroys with “Bacon Fat,” which will get to number 27.  The third non-Billboard hit debuting this week is not from the Seattle/Tacoma area; “Never Let Him Go” by pop-country singer Jody Miller will reach number 35 next week.

This week’s Discovery, Dusty Springfield’s “Losing You,” barely made the Hot 100, stopping at number 91, while here it will get to number 9.  On the other hand, “Red Roses For a Blue Lady” by Vic Dana, which was a number 19 Billboard hit, will only make it to number 33 here despite his northwest connection.

The b-side of Trini Lopez's "Lemon Tree," "Pretty Eyes," is added to the survey.
