Discovery: Jan & Dean—Ride the Wild Surf

This week there are two debuts that did not make Billboard at all and two that just barely scraped into the Bubbling Under chart.  The former two are “Robot Walk,” by Native American brothers Pat and Lolly Vegas, who later formed the group Redbone, and “Mr. Clyde,” another one by Seattle’s Dave Lewis.  “Robot Walk” will reach number 25 here; “Mr. Clyde” number 37.  “Over You” by Paul Revere and the Raiders, who were based in Portland during this period, got to number 133 at BB and will reach number 34 here, while Ray Peterson, who was best-known for 1960’s “Tell Laura I Love Her,” will get to number 46 here next week with “Oh No!”, a number 128 record in Billboard.

Also worth mentioning is that the Kingsmen’s “Death of an Angel” will reach number 10 here at KJR but only got to number 42 at Billboard.
