Discovery: Dean Martin—The Door is Still Open to My Heart

Casey Kasem’s “A Letter From Elaina” will get no higher than its number 42 this week; nationally it Bubbled Under at number 103.  The record consists of Casey reading an allegedly real letter from a listener who tells about meeting George Harrison after a Beatles concert.  It’s very dramatic even though nothing really happens.

R&B singer Sonny Knight’s poppy “If You Want This Love” was a number 71 BB hit but will reach number 3 here in three weeks.  Conversely, two soul records debut this week that both hit the top 15 at Billboard but won’t make it past the 40s here: “You Must Believe Me” by the Impressions and “Funny” by Joe Hinton.
