Jay & the Americans--Sunday and Me
|
High debut for the Vogues; huge leap for Mitch Ryder.
For some unknown reason, or for no reason at all, “Sunday
and Me” by Jay & the Americans returns to the survey, just for this week,
after being off for the last three weeks.
All this week’s debuts were Top 40 Billboard hits except
one. British pop singer Ken Dodd’s “Tears
(For Souvenirs)” was a number 107 BB hit that will spend five weeks here on the
survey, though never getting higher than its initial number 35. Dionne Warwick’s “Are You There (With Another
Girl)” peaked at number 39 in Billboard and will make it to number 20 here; “Uptight
(Everything’s Alright)” by Stevie Wonder was a number 3 BB hit that will stall
at number 26 here. These three combine
with “I Got You (I Feel Good)” and “No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach’s In)”
to give us five parenthetical titles…
