French star Sylvie Vartan’s attempt at having a hit in the
English-speaking world, “I Made My Choice,” did not make it at Billboard (or in
England for that matter), but here it will be number 45 next week and then drop
off. It was a big hit in France for her, in French, under the title "Cette Lettre La." Despite the high debut for “Concrete
and Clay,” it will only get up to number 13 here, but that’s still a bit better
than the number 28 it reached in BB. Wayne
Newton now has two records on the survey; the new one will peak at number 11,
versus number 52 in Billboard. And
Peter, Paul & Mary’s “When the Ship Comes In,” which will make it to number
26 here, was only a number 91 hit nationally.
