Big leap by the Four Tops to number two, but they will get stuck there.  And a high debut for the Rolling Stones, who will be responsible for keeping the Four Tops from getting to number one.

All the debuts were Hot 100 hits except for “Summer Song,” by pop-rock singer Vern McEntire, which is not a version of the 1964 Chad & Jeremy hit.  It will be number 34 next week and then drop off the survey.  The Kinks and Billy Joe Royal will almost swap positions relative to Billboard; “Set Me Free” was a number 23 BB hit which will reach number 8 here, while “Down in the Boondocks” was number 9 in Billboard and will peak at number 23 here.
