Herman's Hermits--Wonderful World

Northwest giants Don & the Goodtimes, from Portland, make their first appearance here with “Little Sally Tease,” a non-BB hit that will make it to number 11 at KJR.  The other debuts were all Hot 100 hits, though “Gloria” by Them is an interesting case.  At Billboard it made number 93 in its only week on the chart in 1965, then almost a year later re-charted and got to number 71.  Here, after its high debut this week, it will peak at number 4 the next two weeks and then drop back down; then in April of 1966 it will come back and get to number 14.  Soul crooner Derek Martin’s “You Better Go” was a number 78 Billboard hit that will get to number 36 here next week.

As Herman’s Hermits’ “I’m Henry VIII, I Am” reaches number one, its b-side, a remake of Skeeter Davis’ “The End of the World,” starts getting played as well.  Both sides of the record will be listed for the next four weeks, and then “Henry VIII” will finish up its survey run on its own.
