Surprise!  Dusty Springfield’s “The Look of Love,” which had been on the survey from June 16 through July 21, suddenly resurfaces.  It’ll be number 47 again next week, and then re-vanish.  I have no idea what prompted its return.

Nancy Sinatra’s version of “Until It’s Time For You to Go” was the b-side of “Lightning’s Girl;” for some reason KJR elected to list the two sides separately instead of as a single entry.  “Until…” was not a BB hit, but here it’ll pass its a-side next week, replacing it at number three, where it’ll stay for a few weeks and then decline.  “What Are We Gonna Do,” a piece of mellow vocal harmony by Just Us, the guys who brought us “I Can’t Grow Peaches on a Cherry Tree” in ’66, also did not make Billboard; here it’ll peak next week at number 28.

Hugo Montenegro’s instrumental “For a Few Dollars More,” a version of a song from the movie of the same name, was only a number 102 hit in Billboard but will go to number 13 here.  Similarly, Gene & Tommy’s pop-folky “Richard & Me” was number 122 in BB and will peak at number 20 here.  Gene Pistilli and Tommy West were singer/songwriter/producers who would later hook up with Terry Cashman and record as Cashman, Pistilli and West and as the Buchanan Brothers; then Cashman and West recorded as Cashman and West (!), and produced all Jim Croce’s records, while Pistilli was one of the founding members of the Manhattan Transfer.  (Terry Cashman is also familiar to many as the “Talkin’ Baseball” guy.)

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Your Precious Love” peaked at number five in Billboard but will only get to number 15 here.
