“Big Boss Man” and “You Don’t Know Me” switch places in the Elvis entry.

Cher and the Small Faces make big leaps into the top ten.

Two versions of “Beautiful People” debuted in the Billboard Hot 100 on November 18, 1967; the original by Kenny O’Dell, who wrote it, and a version by Bobby Vee.  The Vee version narrowly beat the O’Dell version, peaking at number 37 versus number 38.  Here at KJR, though, the O’Dell version will get to number eight, while the Vee version will not make the survey.

The Monkees’ “Daydream Believer,” which was number one for four weeks in BB, will be number one for six non-consecutive weeks here—the only record we’ve seen so far that beat that was “Snoopy vs. the Red Baron,” number one for seven weeks.  This week’s other debuts: “She’s My Girl” by the Turtles (14BB/5KJR), “Different Drum” (written by Michael Nesmith of the Monkees) by the Stone Poneys (13/8), and Spanky & Our Gang’s “Lazy Day” (14/24).
