“Daydream Believer” vaults into the top ten.  “Lightning’s Girl” plummets out of the survey from number 19.

We last saw Seattle’s Viceroys in October 1965; in 1966 they kept up with the times and changed their name to the Surprise Package, and their only KJR hit under that name is “The Other Me,” a non-BB hit that’ll peak here at number 34.  All the other debuts this week were top 25 hits in Billboard, and three of them won’t come close here to equaling their BB peaks: Sam & Dave’s “Soul Man” (2BB/18KJR), spoken-word record “An Open Letter to My Teenage Son” by Victor Lundberg (10/28), and “Keep the Ball Rollin’” by Jay and the Techniques (14/38).
