Robert Knight--Everlasting Love

This is the first survey since June 2 without “Light My Fire.”  Meanwhile, its follow-up, “People Are Strange,” is peaking.

All ten of the week’s debuts were top 60 hits in Billboard.    The Beach Boys’ “Wild Honey,” a mere number 31 BB hit, will get to number three here.  The Mamas and Papas’ “Glad to Be Unhappy,” a version of a 1930s show tune, will make it to number 13 versus its number 26 Billboard peak.  “Suzanne” by Noel Harrison, two years after his only other appearance on the survey, will do much better in Seattle than nationally, getting up to number eight rather than 56.  The Small Faces, a popular British group that was less well-known in the US, will get to number three with their only entry on the KJR Fab 50, “Itchycoo Park,” which peaked at number 16 in Billboard.  And Robert Knight’s “Everlasting Love,” the original version of a song that becomes a hit in a new version about once a decade, will only get to number 33, failing to match its number 13 BB peak.
