Don Ho--Tiny Bubbles

“Love is Here and Now You’re Gone” by the Supremes plunges off the survey from number 24, but taking its place at 24 is its b-side, “There’s No Stopping Us Now,” which was not a Billboard hit.  Next week it’ll fall to number 34, and then it’ll drop off.

Among the other debuts are two BB Bubbling Under hits.  Rodger Collins was a Bay Area soul singer whose “She’s Looking Good” was the closest he would come to a Hot 100 hit, peaking at number 101 (and 44 on the soul chart); it’ll get all the way to number nine here.  “Yellow Balloon” by Jan & Dean (actually just by Dean as Jan was still recuperating from a near-fatal car crash) peaked at number 111 in Billboard but will get to number 35 here.  A subsequently-recorded version by a studio group (named “The Yellow Balloon” after the song), which featured the song’s author on lead vocals, was the national hit, peaking at number 25, but KJR will stick with the Dean version.

Also worth mentioning: Don Ho’s “Tiny Bubbles” (57BB/14KJR), the Hollies’ “On a Carousel” (11/3), and Roger Miller’s “Walkin’ in the Sunshine” (37BB/19KJR, also number 7 on the BB country chart).
