“History Repeats Itself” charges up the survey; minds are blown.

“Spanish Flea” drops off the Herb Alpert entry; next week “What Now My Love” drops off as well.

Twelve new records this week.  Two non-BB: Dino, Desi & Billy’s “Tie Me Down,” which will peak at number 30, and “She’s Boss” by Seattle garage band the Dimensions, which will stay on the survey for several weeks and peak at number 12.  A rare ballad by Tacoma’s Wailers, “It’s You Alone,” got to number 118 in Billboard but will rise all the way to number two here, one of the largest differences for records that made both charts.  (THE biggest difference, 132BB/3KJR, is coming up in November 1966.)

Among the other debuts, the most significant discrepancies are for Peter, Paul & Mary (52BB/22KJR) and the Shangri-Las (65/18).

  1. I love these weekly surveys! They bring back great memories of my youth. I would look up the Fabulous 50 every Friday morning in the Seattle P-I and listen to KJR all week on my transistor radio.

  2. Thanks a lot! My family got the Times, so I was looking at the list of the 20 Top-Selling Records in Seattle that was published there on Thursdays.
