Kinks--Till the End of the Day

Big jumps by Frank Gallop and the Beach Boys.

One non-BB debut: “Don’t Ever Let Me Know” by the Bobby Fuller Four, which only appears on the survey this one week.  It was the b-side of their version of the Buddy Holly song “Love’s Made a Fool of You,” which will debut here in two weeks.

The other debuts were all Hot 100 hits, though none will show close correspondence between their positions on the two charts: Herman’s Hermits (9BB/3KJR)(okay, that’s reasonably close), Buddy Starcher (39/10), Ray Charles (19/40), the Bachelors (38/16), the Ramsey Lewis Trio (70/45), and the Kinks (50/19).  The Buddy Starcher (he was a country DJ/bandleader) record was a recitation of the eerie parallels between presidents Lincoln and Kennedy (Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy, Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln!  Lincoln and Kennedy both have seven letters!).
