The Beatles achieve one of the larger jumps in KJR survey history.
“Younger Girl” is credited to both the Critters and the Hondells for this week only; next week it goes back to just the Critters as it peaks at number 15, then the following week it drops off the survey.  The Hondells version got to number 52 in Billboard.

Ray Charles’ “Let’s Go Get Stoned” joins Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women” on the survey, two songs about getting stoned, in two different senses.  Ray’s record, a number 31 BB hit, will make it to number 14 here.  The other debuts were all Hot 100 hits as well; worthy of note are the Capitols’ “Cool Jerk” (7BB/26KJR), Jay & the Americans’ version of “Crying” (25/46), the Knickerbockers’ latest attempt to recreate the magic of “Lies,” “High on Love” (94/25), and the Turtles’ “Grim Reaper of Love” (81/50) (though I’m not really sure if a record getting to number 50 instead of number 81 is “worthy of note”).
