“Cheryl’s Goin’ Home” by the Cascades, a number 131 Billboard “hit,” will reach number 28 here in two weeks.  The week’s other debuts all made the Hot 100.  “Gloria” by Them got to number 4 here in 1965 and will make it to number 14 this time around; in BB it was 93 and 71.  “Peter Rabbit” by Iowa garage band Dee Jay & the Runaways was a number 45 BB hit, but here it will spend twelve weeks on the survey and peak at number five.

I think a few months back I referred to a record as the tail end of the early 60s folk boom, but I was premature—this week we have the Greenwoods’ “Please Don’t Sell My Daddy No More Wine” (64BB/29KJR).  We last saw them here in June of 1964, when they were still known as the Greenwood County Singers, doing “The New Frankie & Johnny Song.”
