5th Dimension--Workin' On a Groovy Thing

It’s another week where the entertainment section was missing from the microfilm version of the newspaper, so I don’t have the survey, just what I can reconstruct from the “last week” column of the following week’s survey.  We’re missing seven titles that were on this week but fell off the following week.

This week’s debuts almost all made the Billboard top 40—the exception being Johnny Rivers’ almost-self-referential “Muddy River,” which peaked at number 41 nationally but will get to number nine here.  Also peaking at number nine here will be the Box Tops’ “Soul Deep,” which was number 18 in Billboard, while Andy Kim’s version of “Baby, I Love You” was number nine there and will reach number two here.  And I should point out that Tom Jones’ “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” (6BB/5KJR) is not the same song as Burt Bacharach’s “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again.”
