“Scarborough Fair/Look of Love” (which was a medley, not
both sides of the record) by Jeff Afdem & the Springfield Flute was a
non-BB hit that will peak at number 29 here.
Jeff Afdem was the sax player for the Springfield Rifle, and he put out
an easy-listening album, on which he plays flute, under the JA & the SF
name. We will see the Rifle on the
survey one more time, before 1969 is over.
The Rolling Stones’ “Honky Tonk Women” was number one for
four weeks in Billboard; here it will be number one for six weeks and spend 19
weeks on the survey, tying it with “Light My Fire” and coming up one short of “Love
is Blue” for the record so far—though we will see that record broken. “I’d Wait a Million Years” by the Grass
Roots, a number 15 BB hit, will reach number eight here.
The two different songs called “I’ll Never Fall in Love
Again” are now back-to-back on the survey.
What song broke the 20 weeks on the survey record that Love is Blue set?
ReplyDeleteNo spoilers! But it's coming up fairly soon...
