Joe South--Don't it Make You Want to Go Home

Only four debuts this week, so I’ll mention them all.  “Jack and Jill” by Tommy Roe was a number 53 Billboard hit that will go all the way up to number three here.  “What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am,” the follow-up to “I’ve Been Hurt” by Bill Deal & the Rhondells, will not do as well here as “I’ve Been Hurt” (33 vs. 13), though it was bigger nationally (23 vs. 35).  “This Girl is a Woman Now,” the last of the run of big hits for Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, will come out about even (9BB/11KJR).  And Joe South’s “Don’t it Make You Want to Go Home,” peaking in Billboard at number 41 pop and 27 country, will reach number 21 here.
