“Lovin’ Sound” by Canadian husband-and-wife folk duo Ian & Sylvia came up just short of the Billboard Hot 100, maxing out at number 101.  Here it’ll peak at number 17.  The week’s other debuts were all Top 40 in Billboard.  Herman’s Hermits, beginning the decline phase of their career, will only get to number 35 here (18 BB) with “Don’t Go Out Into the Rain,” their follow-up to “There’s a Kind of Hush.”  And Oscar Toney Jr.’s “For Your Precious Love” will get no higher than its number 47 debut position; it was a number 23 hit in Billboard.
