This week’s 14-15-16 records all jump up significantly from where they were last week, while the Rolling Stones debut at number 19 with “Lady Jane”—debuting higher than the 24 that was their peak at Billboard.  Here it’ll get up to number two, though only spending five weeks on the survey.

All the other debuts were Hot 100 hits as well.  Having left the Animals a while back, keyboardist Alan Price formed the Alan Price Set, which recorded a version of “I Put a Spell on You;” it only got to number 80 in BB but will reach number 18 here.  Novelty smash “They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” by Napoleon XIV, which was a number 3 hit nationally, will be slightly less of a smash at KJR and peak at number 12.

I was going to say that “Over Under Sideways Down” beats “You You You” in commas, three to two, but then I realized that neither title actually has any commas.

“Rain” rejoins “Paperback Writer” again, though it’ll vanish for good next week.
