The Lovin’ Spoonful debut way up at number ten with “Summer in the City.”  They simultaneously debut with the non-BB hit “Jug Band Music,” which would seem to imply that those were two sides of the same record, but they weren’t.  “Jug Band Music” was an album track, which will peak at number 23 here.  The other debuts were all Billboard hits, though the Tokens’ “Greatest Moments in a Girl’s Life” only Bubbled Under at number 102, while it will climb to number 14 at KJR.  The others will all come at least moderately close to duplicating here what they did nationally.

"Hold On! I'm a Comin'" by Sam & Dave returns to the survey after a one-week hiatus.

The b-side "Rain" is dropped from the Beatles' "Paperback Writer" entry.
