Outsiders--Respectable

“Drive My Car” races upward.

“Make Me Belong to You” (which incidentally is just a slight rewording of her bigger hit “Make Me Your Baby”) by Barbara Lewis returns to the survey after taking a week off.

All the debuts were Hot 100 hits except for the Under-Bubbler “Angelica” (pronounced an-je-LEEK-a rather than an-JEL-i-ka) by Barry Mann, which was number 111 in Billboard while here it will remain at number 49 for another week and then go away.  The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows” was the b-side of “Wouldn’t it Be Nice” and peaked at number 39 nationally; here it’s debuting higher than that and will get up to number six (“Wouldn’t it Be Nice” joins it on the survey in a few weeks).  Billy Stewart’s melodramatic version of the old standard “Summertime,” which was a number ten hit in Billboard, will only get to number 31 here, despite spending seven weeks on the survey.  The re-release of the Surfaris’ 1963 hit “Wipe Out” peaked at number 16 in BB, while here it will make it up to number seven.  And Verdelle Smith, who has been mentioned here once before, will get to number 16 here with “Tar and Cement,” a number 38 BB hit.
