“Let it Be” is the highest debut we’ve seen in a while.  It was number one for two weeks in Billboard, but here it’ll be number one for ten weeks, making it by that measure the biggest hit ever on the KJR Fab 50.

Spirit makes their third appearance on the Fab 50 with “1984,” a number 69 national hit that will spend four weeks on the survey but get no higher than its number 37 debut.  We’ll see them one more time, but after a gap of three years.

Charlie Rich’s “July 12, 1939” will inch up to number 41 next week and then drop off; in Billboard, it peaked at number 85 pop and 47 country.  “Gotta Hold On to This Feeling” by Junior Walker and the All-Stars will inch up to number 40 over the next two weeks and then drop off; in Billboard, it got to number 21 pop and number two soul.

Two songs with years in the titles debut the same week.  We had one in 1967 (“New York Mining Disaster 1941”), one in 1968 (“1941”), and we’ll have one more later this year.
