Only five debuts this week, so I’ll run through all of them.  Donovan’s “Hurdy Gurdy Man,” a number five hit in Billboard, will get to number six here.  Gary Lewis & the Playboys’ remake of “Sealed With a Kiss,” number 19 BB, will inexplicably go all the way to number one here.  “Lady Willpower,” the first record to be credited to Gary Puckett & the Union Gap (rather than The Union Gap Featuring Gary Puckett), will edge ahead of its number two Billboard peak and also get to number one, one week ahead of Gary Lewis.  The Vogues’ remake of “Turn Around, Look at Me” will also slightly beat its national peak, going to number four rather than number seven.  And pop vocal group the Peppermint Trolley Company (who did the Brady Bunch theme song) will make it to number 21 with “Baby You Come Rollin’ Across My Mind,” a number 59 hit in Billboard.

Roger Williams--The Impossible Dream

All the debuts were Hot 100 hits.  “The Eyes of a New York Woman” by B.J. Thomas was a number 28 BB hit that will get to number eight here.  Roger Williams’ version of “The Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha peaked at number 55 in Billboard but will make it up to number 18 here.  Funky instrumental “Grazing in the Grass” by South African Hugh Masekela was number one for two weeks nationally, but here will stop at number 20.  And Jose Feliciano’s version of “Light My Fire,” a number three BB hit, will only get to number 30 here; it’ll have an interesting chart trajectory, spending three weeks at number 44, then three weeks off the chart, then four weeks back on, starting at number 48 and making its way to number 30 in its final week.
