Last week’s number 21 and 22 records both drop completely off the survey (“Bottle of Wine” and “Sunshine of Your Love”).

The Roosters, from Los Angeles, got to number 106 in Billboard with the pop-psychy “Love Machine,” but here it’ll go to number ten.  A few of the other debuts will do a little bit better here than nationally: The distinctive “Reach Out of the Darkness” by Friend & Lover (10BB, 2KJR), the Doors’ “Unknown Soldier” (39/22) and Johnny Rivers’ “Look to Your Soul” (I was going to describe it as “introspective,” but with that title I think it goes without saying)(49/29).
