We now have a shared entry at number one, as Claudine Longet’s version of “Love is Blue” (number 71 in Billboard) joins Paul Mauriat’s.

“Valleri”’s b-side, “Tapioca Tundra,” a number 34 BB hit, joins it as a double-sided hit for the next several weeks.

The Will-O-Bees return after their one week absence.

Besides Claudine, all the week’s debuts were top 50 BB hits.  Roger Miller’s “Little Green Apples” will get up to number 14 here; in Billboard it peaked at number 39, though it got to number 6 on the country chart and number 5 on the easy listening chart.  The other big version of the song, by O.C. Smith, will appear here in September.

The only other debut that will really top its Billboard position here is Blue Cheer’s version of “Summertime Blues,” a number 14 national hit that will make it to number six here.  On the other hand, Simon & Garfunkel (11BB/26KJR), Aretha Franklin (5/23) and Hugo Montenegro (2/12) will fall short.
