Steel River--Ten Pound Note

Only four debuts again.  In Billboard, the Jackson Five’s “I’ll Be There” and the Partridge Family’s “I Think I Love You” were both number one hits, for five and three weeks respectively.  Here, the Partridge Family will be at number one for seven weeks, blocking out the Five, who will spend four weeks at number two.  (After their seven weeks at number one, the Partridges will spend four weeks at number two, followed by the Christmas week with no chart and then three weeks at number three, for 21 weeks on the survey all told.

“Ten Pound Note” by Toronto rock band Steel River was a big hit in Canada, but just number 109 in the US.  It’ll get to number 29 here.  And that leaves Bread’s “It Don’t Matter to Me” (10BB/14KJR).

Dialogue made up of the titles of this week’s debuts:
“I think I love you.”
“It don’t matter to me.”
“Five pound note…”
“I’ll be there!”
