Fleetwood Mac--Oh Well - Pt. 1

“Fortunate Son” rejoins “Down on the Corner.”

Joe South’s “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” drops off after two weeks at number 42, but will be back in two weeks and will quickly rise to number eleven.

One non-Billboard record debuts this week: “From Africa With Love” by Africa, which will get to number 40.  This is the first record to make the survey since 1966 that I don’t own in some form; I’ve never even heard it and I know nothing about it, except that it was on Ode Records and was produced by Lou Adler.  Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well – Pt.1” was a number 55 BB hit that will get up to number 17 here.  The Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back” was a number one hit nationally but will stop here at number 14; similarly “Give Me Just a Little More Time,” number 3 in Billboard, will only make it to number 17, though it will spend twelve weeks on the survey.

With Fleetwood Mac, the Jackson Five, and “Spirit in the Sky,” it’s starting to look like the seventies around here.
