Jackie DeShannon--Love Will Find a Way

The full title of the Berlin Philharmonic record was “Theme Music For the Film ‘2001’ A Space Odyssey from Also Sprach Zarathustra.”  It was a number 90 national hit (probably one of the best-known number 90 hits ever), and will reach number 28 here in two weeks, then drop off.

A Pennsylvania rock group called the Kit Kats, which had formed in 1961, recorded and released an original song called “Won’t Find Better (Than Me)” on two occasions, without much success.  For the updated third version it was decided that a name change might help, so they became the New Hope.  The result was a number 57 Billboard hit which will peak at number 29 here at KJR.

The week’s other debuts: the Hollies (7BB/3KJR), Wilbert Harrison (32/25), and Jackie DeShannon (40/44).
