For the second straight week, a record drops off the survey from all the way up at number 17—this time it’s William Truckaway’s “Bluegreens on the Wing.”

One non-Billboard debut this week: “Near My Soul” by Jim Brady & the Sonics, sounding about as different from the original Sonics as it is possible to sound; Jim had taken over the name when the last of the original members quit.  It’ll get to number 13.

British blues-rock band Savoy Brown’s “I’m Tired,” number 74 nationally, will go all the way to number seven here.  Funky hippies the Sound Foundation will make it to number 27 with “Morning Dew,” which was only number 118 at Billboard.  British pop singer Jefferson’s “The Colour of My Love,” number 68 in BB, will get to number 29.  “Six White Horses” by Johnny Cash’s brother Tommy, which was a number four country hit at Billboard, as well as number 79 on the Hot 100, will make it to number 23.  And easy listening piano duo Ferrante and Teicher will stop at number 20 with their movie theme “Midnight Cowboy,” which was number ten in Billboard.

Two Three Dog Night records, heading in opposite directions, meet in the middle.
