After seeming to have peaked at number 27 (where it was the
last two weeks), “Somebody to Love” suddenly gets some momentum and jumps to
number 11. It’ll backslide to number 14
next week, before moving into the top ten.
All the debuts were top 40 Billboard hits. The Five Americans’ follow-up to “Western
Union,” “Sound of Love,” was a number 36 BB hit but will get to number 15
here. Sammy Davis Jr.’s “Don’t Blame the
Children,” which he speaks more than sings, is a defense of the younger
generation, blaming things instead on the adults. It peaked at number 37 in Billboard but will
make it to number 21 here. The other new
ones will all conform very closely to their national positions, including “Dead
End Street” and “Windy,” fittingly filling adjacent slots.
