Mashmakhan--As the Years Go By

Two of this week’s debuts are big national hits that will fizzle here.  Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4,” a number four BB hit, will only get to number 33, though it will manage to spend eight weeks on the survey, and Rare Earth’s “(I Know) I’m Losing You,” a number seven hit, will stop at number 30 here.

On the plus side, “That’s Where I Went Wrong” by the Poppy Family will get to number 15, versus its number 29 national peak.  But the big story is the Montreal band Mashmakhan, whose “As the Years Go By,” number 31 in Billboard, will spend two weeks at number one.
