New Seekers--Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma

After seven weeks, the Carpenters are finally knocked out of the number one spot.  And it took Bobby Sherman to do it.

All the week’s debuts were top fifteen Billboard hits, and we will see all of them hit the top fifteen here.  The one with the biggest difference between its two peaks is the Kinks’ “Lola,” number nine BB and number two here.  And it’ll spend 17 weeks on the survey—but that will be beaten by R. Dean Taylor’s “Indiana Wants Me,” which will be around for 21 weeks and is the first record to appear that will last until 1971.  It will also peak at number two, the week after the Kinks, and it got to number five nationally.
