Staple Singers--Respect Yourself
|
Another week where the chart is missing from the newspaper,
or at least from the microfilm of the newspaper. So the positions are taken
from the “Last Week” column of the following week’s survey, and we’re missing a
few entries.
Only four debuts, mostly coming very close here to their
Billboard peaks. Donny Osmond’s double-sided hit of two remakes, “Hey Girl” and
“I Knew You When,” topped out at number nine as a joint listing nationally, and
will get to number eight here. The Chi-Lites’ “Have You Seen Her” will exactly
match its number three peak, and “Respect Yourself” by the Staple Singers,
number 12 BB, will go to number 14. The one exception is the Hillside Singers’ “I’d
Like to Teach the World to Sing,” originally a Coke commercial, which peaked at
number 13 nationally but will get up to number two here.
