Eric Burdon & War--Home Cookin'

Last week Eric Clapton’s “After Midnight” peaked at number 21; this week it’s gone.

“Home Cookin’” was the b-side to “They Can’t Take Away Our Music” by Eric Burdon & War, which was a number 50 Billboard hit.  “Home Cookin’” eventually hit number 108, but not until April 1971.  Here it’ll go to number 16, while the a-side will not be heard from.

The other debuts were all top 50 BB hits, and most will do about as well here as there.  The exception is “Bridget the Midget” by Ray Stevens, his first novelty record in a while, which was a number 50 national hit but will get all the way up to number four here.
