The Carpenters surge to number two.
Last week Miguel Rios’ “Song of Joy” peaked at number 21 in
its fifth week on the survey; this week it’s gone.
The four highest-debuting records were all big hits both
nationally and in Seattle. The
Neighborhood’s version of Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi” was a number 29 BB
hit, while here we’ll see it get to number eleven. “The Boys in the Band” by the Boys in the
Band, a soul-rock record from a movie called The Phynx, just cracked into the
top 50 nationally and will do the same here.
