Thomas & Richard Frost--She's Got Love

This week the “suddenly overstaying its welcome” award goes to Tim Hardin’s “Simple Song of Freedom,” dropping off the survey from number 20.

All the debuts were Hot 100 hits.  Isaac Hayes appears on the survey for the first time, as do Grand Funk Railroad, whose “Time Machine,” a number 48 BB hit, will get to number 20.  The bubblegummy “She’s Got Love” by Thomas & Richard Frost, number 83 nationally, will make it to number 18 here.  And Steam’s “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye,” which was number one for two weeks in Billboard, will stop at number eleven here.

After four weeks at number two, the Archies finally move up to number one.  They’ll spend four more weeks at number two on their way down.

This week people get tired of “A Boy Named Sue,” as it drops off the survey from number 20.

All of the debuts were top 40 Billboard hits.  Andy Kim, as usual, will do much better here than nationally—“So Good Together” will get to number ten, versus its number 36 BB peak.  “One Tin Soldier” by Canadian group the Original Caste, a number 34 Billboard hit, will make it to number eight here.  “Ball of Fire” by Tommy James & the Shondells, number 19 nationally, will get up to number four in Seattle.  And Dionne Warwick’s version of “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” number 16 in Billboard, will only get to number 37 here.
