Smokey Robinson & the Miracles--I Second That Emotion

Three weeks ago “I Can See For Miles” by the Who reached its peak position, number six.  Two weeks ago it was still at number six, and last week it slipped slightly to number eight.  This week it tumbles all the way off of the survey.

“Give a Little Bit” by the City Zu, from Seattle suburb Bellevue, was a non-BB hit that will get to number 19 here.  The band still exists, as, apparently, a sort of oldies/comedy cabaret act.  Lulu’s “Best of Both Worlds” will only get to number 17 despite debuting way up at number 21, but nationally it only made it to number 32.  Aretha Franklin and the Miracles will not come close here to equaling their national success with this week’s debuts; “Chain of Fools” was a number two BB hit that will only make it to number 20, while “I Second That Emotion” will stop at number 32 as opposed to number four.

There was no KJR Fab 50 for December 29—the next survey is January 5, 1968.

  2. This is a ranking of the top 50 for the year 1967. It is based 60% on the number of weeks each song was on the survey and 40% on each song's peak position for the year and the weeks it held that position. The numbers before each song are (in this order) the ranking in the top 50, the peak position and the weeks at that position, and the weeks on the survey.
