First column is position on the year-end chart, second column is peak position on the survey, third column is peak position in Billboard.

There were four records that hit number one during the year that didn't make the year-end list: "Outa-Space" by Billy Preston, "Where is the Love" by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul, and "Everything I Own" by Bread. Strange that Bread's biggest hit of the year didn't make it but two that peaked at number six did.

  1. There were earlier year-end Fab 50 charts where number one hits (like Paperback Writer) didn't even make the top 50 for the year. It leads me to believe that whoever did the year-end charts did them off the tops of their heads at the last minute and didn't really think about them or research them very much.
