Godspell--Day By Day
|
Eight debuts this week, nine if you count both sides of the
Gordon Lightfoot record. Speaking of which, “Beautiful” was a number 58
Billboard hit while “Don Quixote” didn’t make the chart; here the record will
peak at number ten, with “Beautiful” listed by itself, and will be number 28
next week, the one week that “Don Quixote” will be listed first. “Motorcycle
Mama” by Alabama duo Sailcat and “Beautiful Sunday” by British pop singer
Daniel Boone will both get to number four on the survey—nationally they peaked
at twelve and 15 respectively. Coming up short here will be America’s “I Need
You” (9BB/24KJR) and “Day By Day” by the original Broadway cast of the musical “Godspell”
(13/36). The others will perform about as well here as in Billboard.
Next week, the Fab 50 cuts back to the Fab 40.
