Jack Gold Sound--Summer Symphony

Seven debuts this week, including one that didn’t make Billboard’s pop chart at all: “Summer Symphony” by the Jack Gold Sound, which did make the BB Easy Listening chart twice. It hit number ten there in the summer of 1970, then re-charted a year later and got to number 34. Here it’ll stop at number 47.

Among the other debuts, the rocking Bread hit, “Mother Freedom,” which only got up to number 37 nationally, will get to number six and spend 17 weeks on the survey. Also worth mentioning are “Gonna Be Alright Now” by former Smith singer Gayle McCormick (84BB/35KJR) and Gordon Lightfoot’s “Talking in Your Sleep” (64/35). On the other hand, James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend,” number one in Billboard, will only make it to number ten.
