We’ve got two of the highest debuts we’ve seen, at least in a long time. Since the Ram LP drops off the survey from number four, it seems like “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” is sort of taking its place. The other one has the oddest survey trajectory ever. Tom Clay’s “What the World Needs Now is Love/Abraham, Martin and John” debuts this week at number five, goes to number one next week, then drops completely off the survey. No idea why. (Nationally, “Uncle Albert” got to number one and “What the World Needs Now” to number eight.)

Twiggy’s “Zoo De Zoo Zong” was not a Billboard hit at all, but it’ll get to number eleven here. “Where Evil Grows” by the Poppy Family, number 45 BB, will be number one for two weeks and spend 19 weeks on the survey. Neil Diamond’s version of his own composition, “I’m a Believer,” was number 51 BB and will get up to number 20. That leaves Three Dog Night’s “Liar” (7BB/4KJR).

Lobo--She Didn't Do Magic

Tom Jones’ version of “Resurrection Shuffle” joins the Ashton, Gardner & Dyke version as a single entry. The combined entry will get to number two; nationally Tom narrowly won out, 38 to 40.

Of the four other debuts, two will do much better here than in Billboard. Bobby Russell’s “Saturday Morning Confusion,” a gentle, whimsical piece of suburban family life similar to his 1968 “1432 Franklin Pike Circle Hero,” will go to number four, whereas in BB it peaked at number 28 on the pop chart and number 24 on the country chart. “She Didn’t Do Magic,” Lobo’s follow-up to “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo” which only got to number 46 nationally, will get up to number five.

That leaves Elvis’s “I’m Leavin’” (36BB/40KJR) and Creedence’s “Sweet Hitch-Hiker” (number six on both).
