“La-La-Means I Love You” by the Delfonics drops off after two weeks on the survey; it’ll stay off for three weeks, then come back for five.  Also dropping off after two weeks is the Will-O-Bees’ “It’s Not Easy;” it’ll be off just this one week, then come back for three weeks.

One debut this week was not a Billboard hit: “Another Time” by Sagittarius, which will peak next week at number 31; it’s their second and final appearance on the survey, following “My World Fell Down.”  “Sound Asleep” by the Turtles, a number 57 BB hit, will peak here next week at number 34.  The Royal Guardsmen make their first non-Snoopy-related appearance at KJR with “I Say Love”—it’s only on the survey this one week, and it peaked at number 72 in Billboard.  Sly & the Family Stone’s first hit, “Dance to the Music,” a number eight BB hit, will only make it to number 26 here.  And “Sunshine of Your Love” by Cream has an interesting history:  Upon its release, it got to number 36 in Billboard and will go to number 13 here.  Then it disappears from both charts for a while, then returns in July, getting to number five in Billboard and 18 here.

Eight debuts this week, and all but one will do at least a little better here than nationally—and the one exception is Seattle’s Merrilee Rush, whose breakout hit “Angel of the Morning” will do equally well (#7) on both charts.

The one non-BB hit is the gentle, kinda countryish pop-psych “L.O.V.E. Love” by Tyler Texas’ Mouse & the Traps, which’ll peak at number 19.  We saw Mouse on his own here about two years back with “A Public Execution.”  Also from Texas were Jon & Robin & the In Crowd (whom we have seen here once before and will see once again), whose “Dr. Jon (The Medicine Man)” was a number 87 BB hit that will climb to number nine here.  Bill Cosby’s parody of “Funky Broadway,” “Funky North Philly” (“the name of the staircase is funky funky staircase…”), will get to number 39 here, beating its number 91 Billboard peak.  British pop-rock group the Montanas had a number 58 BB hit with “You’ve Got to Be Loved,” but it’ll go to number 19 here.  And countryish easy listening/soul singer O.C. Smith’s “The Son of Hickory Holler’s Tramp” will get to number 18 here, despite spending only four weeks on the survey; it peaked at number 40 in Billboard.
