Nilsson--Jump Into the Fire

A very unusual amount of shuffling around this week. Nine debuts. The top three songs were at 8, 11, and 12 last week. Songs jumping 14 to 5, 25 to 9, 26 to 11, 29 to 12, 28 to 14, 35 to 17, 38 to 19, and 46 to 20. Songs falling from 1 to 10, 4 to 16, 13 to 30, and 20 to 40. Songs dropping off the survey from 15, 19, 22, and 24.

Of the nine debuts, two will significantly top their national performance. The sunshiny “Number Wonderful” by female pop vocal group Rock Flowers, a number 95 Billboard hit, will get to number 27, and Nilsson’s “Jump Into the Fire,” number 27 in BB, will go to number four. And two will significantly fall short: the Bee Gee’s “My World” (16BB/35KJR) and Donny Elbert’s version of “I Can’t Help Myself” (22/39).

Nilsson has the top and bottom slots.

Eight debuts. One did not make the BB Hot 100, topping out at number 115 on the Bubbling Under chart: Leon Russell project the Asylum Choir with “Tryin’ to Stay ‘Live,” which we will see get to number 40. The Raiders’ “Country Wine,” a number 51 national hit, will make it to number eleven. But the big story this week is “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath, which will get to number two despite being only a number 52 BB hit.
